Rick Santorum is touting this weekend’s Florida straw poll as evidence that Republican voters aren’t satisfied with the choices of Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, and that a candidate like him has an opening.
Of course, Santorum came in fourth place in the straw poll, with 11% — behind both Perry’s 15% and Romney’s 14%. The actual winner was Herman Cain with 37%.
The Des Moines Register reports:
“People are tired are being told that these are the only two candidates that you get to choose from. Because they’re not particularly happy with those candidates,” Santorum said. He was attending a gun show at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
“The bottom line is, neither of these candidates have lit anybody on fire and they both have major issues with respect to winning the nomination,” Santorum said.
