Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) — like any decent governor — holds his state in high regard. So high, in fact, that he says the winner of Florida’s straw poll this week will be the next president.
But a number of Republican presidential hopefuls aren’t even participating. That doesn’t matter, Scott says, because even if you’re not participating … you’re participating.
“Even if you say you’re not participating, basically everyone knows your positions, they’re watching the debates,” he said on Fox News on Saturday. “… What’s the difference?”
To name a few of the non-participating participants: Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman.
Scott said he isn’t endorsing any candidate yet. “We’ve got a lot of great candidates that would be great presidents,” he said. “I like a healthy debate.”
