Down to the Wire

The highly respected Quinnipiac poll has a new result out on the NJ governor’s race. And in line with other recent polls it has one-time frontrunner Chris Christie up by a single point. As the upshot of other recent polls suggests, this is basically a tie race with only three weeks left to go.

Schumer: Public Option Up To Reid

Last night Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) ratcheted up the pressure on Majority Leader Harry Reid to include a public option provision when he melds the Baucus bill with the Kennedy bill:

If he puts it in the final bill, in the combined bill, then you would need 60 votes to remove it. And there clearly are not 60 votes against the public option. And so we’re urging him to do that, and he’s seriously considering it.
