Small, rural, multigenerational family farm here in Maui, Hawaii.
Got the news right as the kids were waking up… saw raucous New York, then went out on the front lanai and screamed screamed screamed… my 5 year old son ran out and joined in… then we could hear his grandparents banging a cow bell from down at the barn… house guests started yelling… my 25 year-old niece texted saying I woke her up terrified, until she realized what must’ve happened… the dogs howled… my husband woke up and came out laughing, shaking his head. I keep taking screenshots to look back on in 50 years. We will never forget today, everything… the tears of exhaustion, of joy. Shared joy across this country and world.
