When our Christina Bellantoni was checking to find out what would happen with the jobs bill the Democrats are going to try to vote on on Monday, she heard this from a Democratic leadership aide: “It all depends on Republicans. We are hoping that republican senators like Scott Brown will oppose the will of their leadership and buck the demands of republican lobbyists who are busy scheming to defeat senator Reid’s legislation as we speak.”

Placing hopes on Scott Brown, the new darling of the Republican right, to break the latest Republican filibuster. I guess that’s taking the initiative.

This reminds of when Harry Truman dared members of the 80th Congress to help him pass some of his legislation.
