Question: what is it that makes September the moment of truth, other than the fact that it’s about the last possible moment when a major change in policy could have a significant effect on the November 2008 election?
Late Update: TPM Reader BL notes that in meetings between Patraeus, Sec Def Gates and Ambassador Crocker on April 19th and 20th in Iraq it was agreed that Petraeus would deliver a status report in September.
