Sheriff Joe is crossing the border — to Colorado.
The Denver Post reports that on Sept. 26, Joe Arpaio, sheriff of Maricopa county in Arizona, will appear at a campaign event for Tom Tancredo, who’s running as a third-party candidate in Colorado’s gubernatorial race.
On Sunday, Arpaio appeared at a Republican fundraiser in New Hampshire. According to KTAR, he addressed speculation that he’s considering a Presidential bid: “I expect to be running again for my sixth four-year term in 2012, (I’m) raising money. But I guess there’s an old cliche, you never say never,” Arpaio said.
KTAR reports that dozens of people came out to protest Arpaio’s appearance.
The TPM Poll Average for the Colorado gubernatorial race shows Democrat John Hickenlooper (44.6%) and Republican Dan Maes (28.1%) leading Tancredo (12.7%).
