Republican Kirk Has Big Cash Advantage Over Giannoulias In Illinois Senate Race

Republican Mark Kirk has a big fundraising lead over his Democratic opponent, Alexi Giannoulias, in the Illinois senate race, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Today, Giannoulias announced a second quarter fundraising total of just over $900,000, leaving him with $1 million in cash on hand. Kirk had previously announced a $2.3 million fundraising total in the same period, and has nearly $4 million in cash on hand. The pair are battling for the senate seat once held by President Obama.

The TPM Poll Average for this race has Kirk leading Giannoulias 41.3%-38.9%.
