Report: Capuano Now A ‘Yes’ Vote On HCR

Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA)

The Boston Globe reports that Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA) will vote yes during tomorrow’s health care reform vote after previously saying he would be a no vote on the bill.

As the Globe reports, Capuano’s decision means Rep. Stephen Lynch (D) “is the only declared ‘no’ vote among the 10-member Massachusetts delegation.”

Last week, Capuano sounded like he was voting no, as Brian Beutler reported.

In a letter to supporters on March 11, Capuano said he took issue with the reconciliation plan Democrats are using to include House alterations on the Senate bill and suggested he was leaning toward a “no” vote.

But today, Caupano told the Globe that the changes to the Senate bill found in the reconciliation plan are the reason for his decision to vote for it.

“The bottom line is, I’m convinced that Massachusetts’ interests are not only protected, but actually enhanced,” Capuano told the paper. “Massachusetts would be getting a lot more protection and a lot more money than they would in the Senate bill alone.”
