Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) campaign has a new TV ad in Nevada, attacking Republican nominee Sharron Angle for opposing Social Security and Medicare, and for saying that people collecting Social Security are taking welfare. And what’s more, the ad ties into one of the major themes of Reid’s general election campaign, casting Angle’s ideas as “crazy.”

The ad plays audio of Angle, from a radio interview this past May, with accompanying on-screen text: “My grandfather wouldn’t even take his Social Security check because he said he was not up for welfare.”

The ad then features Edward Coyle, of the labor-affiliated group Alliance for Retired Americans, who calls Angle’s remarks “just plain insulting,” and also adds: “This is crazy.”
