Following last week’s comfortable victory in the New Hampshire Republican gubernatorial primary, Republican nominee John Stephen finds himself well-positioned heading into the general election, a new Rasmussen poll suggests. The poll, which is the first post-primary survey of the race, finds Stephen down two points to Democratic Governor John Lynch, 48%-46%.
The survey suggests a significant shift in the race since Stephen won the Republican nomination. An August 5 Rasmussen poll found Lynch ahead 50%-39% in a hypothetical matchup against Stephen. A September 12 PPP poll, conducted just before the state’s primaries, had Lynch leading 51%-39%.
The TPM Poll Average shows Lynch leading the race, 49.9%-42.1%, but polling for the general election is still in its early stages.
The latest Rasmussen poll’s margin of error is ±4.5 percentage points.
