Rasmussen Poll: Angle Leads Reid By Seven Points

Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and Sen. candidate Sharron Angle (R)

The new Rasmussen poll of the Nevada Senate race gives Republican nominee Sharron Angle a seven-point lead over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The numbers: Angle 48%, Reid 41%. The survey of likely voters has a ±4.5% margin of error. In the previous Rasmussen poll from two weeks ago — taken right after Angle’s big win in the Republican primary, when she was possibly enjoying a bounce — Angle was ahead by 50%-39%. The TPM Poll Average gives Angle a lead of 46.0%-40.8%.

From the pollster’s analysis: “Reid’s campaign and national Democrats are already pounding away at Angle’s views as unacceptable to the state. But at this early stage, the race continues to be about Reid, who earned 61% of the vote when he was reelected in 2004 but whose support in this election cycle against any Republican candidate has never risen above the low 40s.”
