Illinois Democratic Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias is getting some big help in his quest to win Barack Obama’s old seat: Barack Obama.
On August, the President will be in Chicago to support the Democratic nominee.
“We’re excited to welcome President Obama back to Illinois to campaign with Alexi in early August,” Giannoulias campaign manager Michael Rendina said in a statement.
Last week, Giannoulias announced a second-quarter fundraising total of $900,000, well below the $2.3 million his Republican opponent, Mark Kirk, took in during the same period.
The TPM Poll Average shows Kirk leading Giannoulias 41.3-38.9.
