The Hasan Family Foundation, which paid Colorado gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis (R) to write articles he was later caught plagiarizing, is now demanding he repay the $300,000.
The nonprofit had paid McInnis to write a series of articles on water rights, and in a statement released today demanded that he “repay all monies paid to him,” the Colorado Statesman reports.
Seeme Hasan, Chairwoman of the Hasan Family Foundation wrote that McInnis completed “only a fraction of the work he was obligated to perform” and “of the little work that he did, he has admitted it was neither fully completed by him, nor fully original.”
The statement is the latest setback for McInnis, who has also been called on to withdraw his nomination by former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), and seen his funding withdrawn by the Republican Governor’s Association following the scandal.
Despite this, McInnis wrote on his Facebook page yesterday that he is “in it to win it” and has no plans to withdraw.
