Did you miss the Senate Banking Committee members swooning over JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon earlier this week? Well it wasn’t just an opportunity to fawn over Dimon. It was also a chance for the Senate to talk about how terrible they are, Jon Stewart said on Thursday.
Sen. Jim DeMint told Dimon that politicians can hardly chastise JPMorgan’s staggering $2 billion-plus trading loss. “We lose twice that every day in Washington,” DeMint said.
“Does Sen. DeMint think that spending money is the same as losing money?” Stewart said. “I had $10 million here yesterday, but now all i see is this fucking highway,” he mocked. “I don’t understand.”
Stewart concluded that it must be nice to be a Republican senator sometimes. “Because you get the fun of breaking shit, and the joy of complaining that the shit you just broke doesn’t work.”
