Former Nevada state Rep. Sharron Angle, the Republican nominee for Senate against Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid, appears to be trying to strike a new balance in her latest ad. The ad takes a seemingly calm and reassuring tone — while preserving Angle’s message of warning that the whole country is in decline thanks to big government.
“We have a fearful society right now,” Angle says in a calm and measured voice, speaking to a seated group of voters. “What they’re afraid of is that what we’re going to be passing down to our children is not liberty and freedom, but debt and deficits. That’s why you and I have an opportunity right now to change the direction of our country.”
The TPM Poll Average gives Reid a narrow edge of 42.8%-42.6%, after he had previously trailed throughout the race. However, Angle has been dragged down due to a variety of attacks on her hardline conservative positions.
