From The Reporter's Notebook
A previous advisor to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign said Wednesday that he thought retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson would make a good Vice President for The Donald. According to TPM's Sara Jerde, Carson, who has come to Trump’s defense over colorful comments he’s made, might have similar sentiments. When asked last month if he would consider Trump as a running mate, he said “all things are possible.”
Say What?!
"I'm not a fan of Megyn Kelly, although I often turn on Fox just to look at her. Sometimes when I'm loading my magazines, I like to just look at her. And I usually sit naked on the couch dropping hot brass on my stuff."
-Ted Nugent accused Fox anchor Megyn Kelly of unfairly attacking Donald Trump in last week's GOP debate.
BUZZING: Today in the Hive
From a TPM Prime member: "There are many destabilized regions–Middle East, South China Sea, Ukraine, and I would add our neighbor Mexico. I do feel pessimistic that war in the next decade or two might be coming, and I don't see our media or our political leadership doing much to address it seriously. We don't even know who our principal enemies are today–ISIS? Iran? Al Qaeda? And of course there are private contractors doing much of the fighting in Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, and maybe Yemen or other places. It all feels like Orwell's 1984, in which there were always wars going on somewhere but no one knew who was fighting or why."
Related: Lindsey Graham said the Iran nuclear deal is akin to "declaring war on Israel."
