TPM’s Catherine Thompson will visit the Hive (sub req) to talk about her recent coverage of the BridgeGate scandal and the conspiracy theories swirling around “Jade Helm 15,” a U.S. military exercise that Texas right-wingers fear is cover for the implementation of martial law. Catherine will answer questions about her recent reporting and what it’s like to cover domestic politics from TPM’s New York office. She’ll also offer her take on a wide array of current events.
Get your questions in now and then join us Wednesday in The Hive.
TPM’s Managing Editor, David Kurtz, is in attendance for today’s oral arguments at the Supreme Court in what is likely to be the decisive case for marriage equality nationwide – and perhaps by extension LGBT equality writ large.
At 4 PM EDT, he’ll be in The Hive (sub req) taking your questions on the proceedings.
Gregor Macdonald, the writer behind our TPM Prime series The Renewables, will be in The Hive(sub req) tomorrow at 2 p.m. EST to chat about his series and all things energy. He’s an independent journalist covering the energy sector who has written for The Economist Intelligence Unit, The Financial Times of London, The Harvard Business Review, The Oil Drum, The Petroleum Economist, etc.
About a month ago, TPM published the first of Gregor’s 5-part series on the rapid rise of renewables in the global energy market. We’ve since published part two, and part three will be published tomorrow (Tuesday). The pieces deal with the changing energy mix in the US as solar and wind dominate marginal additions to the powergrid, and aging fossil-fuel power retires. Check it out and drop in your questions for Gregor about renewable energy, the economics and policy surrounding it, etc. at or before 2 p.m. EST.
Elizabeth (Liza) Goitein on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Eastern will join The Hive (sub req) to answer your questions about national security, including how Congress should reform NSA surveillance.
Goitein co-directs the Brennan Center for Justice’s Liberty and National Security Program. Before coming to the Brennan Center, Liza served as counsel to U.S. Senator Russell Feingold, Chairman of the Constitution Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee. As counsel to Sen. Feingold, Liza handled a variety of liberty and national security matters, with a particular focus on government secrecy and privacy rights.
Her writing has been featured in major newspapers including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Boston Globe, the San Francisco Chronicle, Wall Street Journal and the Philadelphia Inquirer, as well as prominent outlets such as Roll Call, the National Law Journal, and the Huffington Post.
Feel free to drop in your questions at or before 1 p.m. on 4/15. This chat will be moderated by TPM.
