When asked in a New York Times Magazine piece what the most dangerous place he’s ever been to in the world was, Donald Trump put America first, TPM’s Kristin Salaky wrote. “Brooklyn,” Trump replied, laughing. “No, there are places in America that are among the most dangerous in the world. You go to places like Oakland. Or Ferguson. The crime numbers are worse. Seriously.”
Agree or Disagree?
Josh Marshall: “Sanders narrative today has essentially been that he is political legitimacy. The Democratic party needs to realize that. This, as I said earlier, is the problem with lying to your supporters. Sanders is telling his supporters that he can still win, which he can’t. He’s suggesting that the win is being stolen by a corrupt establishment, an impression which will be validated when his phony prediction turns out not to be true. Lying like this sets you up for stuff like happened over the weekend in Nevada”

From a TPM Prime member: “The GOP whines about executive overreach, but pretty clearly Obama is on a roll here. Yesterday we go the new overtime regulations, last week we got the bathroom regulations, and a month or so back we got a big move on tax inversions. So what else is on the table for Obama’s final months? Close Guantanamo – this might not be possible, because apparently all reasonable options require funds for construction that are not available Close the carried-interest loophole. It’s been argued that this change might be possible by regulation for funds that have a lot of tax-free limited partners (which is most of them). Note that the case of tax-free partners is the one that costs the Treasury money – the others are just a zero-sum game between the LP’s and the GP. So this is my prediction for the highest profile move Obama can make. Any other suggestions? “
