Allegations against the Christie administration made earlier this year by the Democratic mayor of Hoboken are “demonstrably false,” lawyers representing the office of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said in a report released Thursday.

In January, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer publicly accused the Christie administration of threatening to withhold Hurricane Sandy relief money if she did not support a development project in her city. In their report, lawyers representing the governor’s office dismissed the idea.

“Our investigation found that Mayor Zimmer’s allegations are, in material respects, demonstrably false,” the report states. “They are contradicted by contemporaneous documents, other witnesses’ accounts, and her own prior statements. In sum, the subjective perceptions she may have do not match objective reality, as reflected in the hard evidence uncovered during our investigation.”

After going public with her allegations, Zimmer met with federal prosecutors, and turned over documents to support her claims. Zimmer declined a request to be interviewed by the legal team conducting Christie’s internal review of her allegations and the George Washington Bridge lane closures.
