In a victory for Republicans, the federal government has agreed to let Florida use a law enforcement database to challenge peopleís right to vote if they are suspected of not being U.S. citizens. The agreement, made in a letter Scottís administration that was obtained by The Associated Press, grants the state access to a list of resident non citizens maintained by the Department of Homeland Security. Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) on Wednesday said he would support legislation that would let undocumented immigrants pay in-state tuition rates, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Scott backs a state senate proposal that keep public universities from raising tuition rates above standards set by the Florida legislature.

“I want tuition to be lower,” Scott said. “It’s unbelievable how much tuition has gone up.”

Republican Gov. Chris Christie (R) also backed a New Jersey law that lets undocumented residents pay in-state tuition.
