Rolling Stone’s acerbic muckraker Matt Taibbi announced Thursday that he’s leaving the magazine to join Glenn Greenwald and company at First Look Media.

Taibbi used a post on his blog to reflect on his more than 15 years at Rolling Stone, writing that he’ll “have plenty of time to talk about the new job elsewhere.”

“Today is a very bittersweet day for me. As excited as I am about the new opportunity, I’m sad to be leaving this company,” he wrote.

Taibbi will be joining Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill and Laura Poitras at First Look Media. The organization launched its fist site, called The Intercept, a week ago.

Taibbi was a fearless polemicist during his time at Rolling Stone, writing about a host of political issues with a biting (and often profane) tone. He was widely regarded as one of the best reporters to cover the corruption within the finance sector.
