Tourists Rushed From U.S. Capitol Grounds

Moments after reports of shot fired near the U.S. Capitol, TPM spotted a group of tourists rushing away from the Capitol’s West Lawn and across Independence Avenue, under the direction of U.S. Capitol police.

TPM also saw a law enforcement officer carrying a gun running outside the south side of the Capitol.

The south side of the Capitol is where the House chamber is located. House office buildings are south of the Capitol across Independence Avenue.
