White House: We Won’t Accept Any Delays On Obamacare

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney speaks during his daily news briefing at the White House in Washington, Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

The Obama administration will not accept any delays in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, even if acquiescing meant averting a government shutdown, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday.

House GOP leaders announced earlier Wednesday their decision to move forward with a conservative plan that adds language defunding Obamacare to a stopgap measure that would avert a government shutdown later this month, even as Senate Democrats remain staunchly opposed.
