Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is hosting a fundraiser for Kentucky Democratic senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in October.
The fundraiser, which Grimes’s campaign confirmed to TPM on Thursday, will be on October 11 at McCormick & Schmick’s in Las Vegas. The event was organized by the Searchlight Leadership Fund, a group founded by Reid.
In 2012 Reid said he would not publicly campaign against McConnell. “I don’t think it’s appropriate,” Reid told Politico.
However, Reid has steadly become more involved in McConnell’s race over the summer. In July, Reid said of McConnell’s critics, “He tried to make love to the tea party and they didn’t like it.”
McConnell fundraised for Reid’s Republican challenger, Sharron Angle, in 2010.
