Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday swore in B. Todd Jones as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Justice Department said in a statement.

Jones was confirmed by the Senate in July, giving the bureau its first permanent director since 2006. Republican had kepy the position vacant, but the nomination Jones received little pushback from the right. The National Rifle Association, long one of ATF’s chief critics, even remained neutral on the nomination.
