Gov. Bob McDonnell, the now beleaguered Republican governor of Virginia, has added a new member to his response team as he faces growing number of state and federal inquiries into gifts he and his family received during his gubernatorial tenure, The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Tuesday.
Rich Galen is now a senior communications adviser to McDonnell’s private legal team, which is not financed by taxpayer money. Galen previously handled media relations for Dan Quayle and Newt Gingrich.
The governor already has a state-appointed attorney and a private lawyer assigned to the matter.
