Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said Sunday that President Barack Obama helped to politicize the Trayvon Martin case and the state never should have prosecuted George Zimmerman, who was found not guilty Saturday night of second-degree murder and manslaughter.
“The evidence didn’t support prosecution, and the Justice Department engaged in this,” King said on “Fox News Sunday.” “The president engaged in this and turned it into a political issue that should have been handled exclusively with law and order.”
Soon after the shooting in Florida, Obama told the media “if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”
