Spitzer Draws Hecklers During First Day On Campaign Trail

Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer addresses an audience during a Harvard University ethics forum on the school's campus in Cambridge, Mass., Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.

The New York Times followed Eliot Spitzer’s return to the campaign trail on Monday as the former Democratic governor of New York embarks on a bid to become New York City comptroller.

According to the Times, Spitzer — who resigned as governor in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal — “endured loud hecklers and received unsolicited compliments” in the city’s Union Square.

“You slept with hookers, and you lied and cheated on your family,” one man was quoted as saying.
