House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Thursday assailed President Barack Obama’s recently announced proposal that would bolster regulations on pollution from coal-fired power plants and boost energy efficiency of appliances and buildings.
“I think this is absolutely crazy,” Boehner said at his weekly Capitol Hill press conference, noting the move would increase the cost of energy and kill jobs across the United States.
The proposal would not require funding or approval from Congress, however, as Obama would mean to implement the regulations through the executive branch.
