Gov. Mark Dayton (D) on Tuesday will sign a bill that will make Minnesota the 12th state to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry legally.
Dayton will sign the legislation during a ceremony starting at 5 p.m. CST on the steps of the state capitol in St. Paul, Minn. The Democratic governor promoted the signing ceremony on his Twitter feed. After passing in the state House of Represenatives last week, the legislation was approved by the state Senate on Monday.
