Google on Wednesday announced it had invested $200 million in the Spinning Spur Wind Project in Oldham County, Texas, a 161-megawatt wind farm with 70 turbines.
That equity investment brings the Internet giant’s overall portfolio of clean energy investments to over $1 billion in 11 solar and wind projects since 2010. Google also released the following infographic showing the impact of its clean energy investments. The projects Google supports will be capable of generating a collective 2 gigawatts of electricity when finished, enough to power 500,000 U.S. homes.
