Advisers to President Barack Obama have urged the White House to accept corporate donations for Obama’s upcoming inauguration, The Wall Street Journal reports. From the paper:
People involved in his re-election campaign said White House staff and campaign advisers have been debating whether to accept corporate money to stage the events but haven’t made a final decision.
Obama barred corporations from giving to his first inauguration in 2009, and ended up raising $50 million to cover the costs of the celebrations.
The upcoming inauguration is scheduled for Jan. 21.
