Couple Describes Romney’s Help To Dying Son In Crossroads Ad

Ted and Pat Oparowski, who spoke at the Republican National Convention in August, tell the story of how Mitt Romney spent time with their dying son in a new ad from the conservative Crossroads GPS, reports the New York Times.

In the ad, the Oparowskis tell the story they told in Tampa about how Romney spent time with their son, a 14-year old who had non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and helped him write his will and deliver the eulogy at his funeral.

“To spend time with a 14-year old boy in his last days, that — you cannot help but know that he’s caring,” Pat Oparowski says in the ad. “He cares about people and about their needs. I think he’s going to be able to get us back on track, I really do.”

The powerful story aims to repair Romney’s image as out of touch and uncaring. The ad will be on TV in Wisconsin.
