Obama In Iowa: Tell Paul Ryan Farm Bill Is Important

President Obama began his speech in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Monday by addressing the drought that is hurting Iowa’s farmers and ranchers. “I know things are tough right now,” Obama said. Obama pushed the farm bill pending in Congress as the best way to help Iowans. “When tough times strike our neighbors we give them a hand,” Obama said.

Obama also attacked Rep. Paul Ryan, the VP candidate, for being a member of the Republican House caucus holding up the farm bill. Obama urged audience members to tell Ryan — who is also campaigning in Iowa — how important the farm bill is for rural America and for Iowa.
