The voters who will be deciding whether to keep Sheriff Joe Arpaio in office in November are deeply unhappy with his ongoing investigation into President Barack Obama’s birth certificate, according to a poll released Thursday.
The poll by Democratic-leaning firm Strategies 360 found that 65 percent of voters in Arpaio’s home of Maricopa County, Ariz., disapproved of the investigation while 25 percent approved. Still, Arpaio remains in positive territory overall, with 53 percent saying they have a favorable opinion of him and 43 percent unfavorable.
The telephone poll of 600 likely voters had a margin of error of 4.4. percent.
