Boehner: Accusations Against Huma Abedin ‘Dangerous’

Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) is distancing himself from accusations made by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) against Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Bachmann and four other House Republicans have accused Abedin of conspiring with the Muslim Brotherhood to infiltrate the U.S. government.

“I don’t know Huma, but from everything that I do know of her she has a sterling character,” Boehner said at a news conference Thursday, according to ABC News. “Accusations like this being thrown around are pretty dangerous.”

Republican Sens. John McCain and Scott Brown have also spoken out against the accusation.

Boehner demurred on whether Bachmann should lose her seat on the House Intelligence Committee. “I don’t know that that is related at all,” said Boehner, according to National Journal.
