CNN reports that Liu Yang, the first female taikonaut in space, has returned safely after spending ten days in space as part of a docking mission. Yang was one of three taikonauts returning from China’s ambitious mission, which saw the Shenzhou-9 spacecraft dock with the Tiangon-1 space laboratory, the first manual docking in the country’s history.
China has stated that it will attempt to construct a space station by 2020, and that it will attempt to land a taikonaut on the moon as early as 2016.
