Rep. Jim Matheson, the only Democrat in Utah, will vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress on Thursday, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
One likely important factor: the National Rifle Association (NRA) — which subscribes to the conspiracy theory that ATF’s botched Fast and Furious operation was all about implementing gun control — is scoring the contempt vote. While the NRA said it “is no secret that the NRA does not admire Attorney General Holder,” they insisted the vote wasn’t partisan.
House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) is actively whipping the Democratic caucus to vote against the resolution finding Holder in contempt, NBC reports.
