Internal Poll Shows Brunner With Lead In Missouri Senate Primary

An internal poll commissioned by John Brunner’s Senate campaign showed the St. Louis businessman with a wide lead against his two primary opponents, Rep. Todd Akin and former state treasurer Sarah Steelman. The three candidates are vying to take on incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill this fall. Politico has the poll, conducted by American Viewpoint.  

According to the poll:

Brunner leads with 40% of the vote with 20% each for Akin and Steelman, 19% of voters are still undecided.

A further signal of his command of the race is evidenced by his strong advantage with those aware of all 3 candidates (56% of electorate) Brunner leads with 44% of the ballot, 22% for Akin, 18% for Steelman.

The poll was based on 600 interviews with likely GOP primary voters between June 19-21. The margin of error is +/- four percent.
