North Dakota Democrats have a solid chance to keep the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Kent Conrad, a new Mason-Dixon poll released Thursday shows.

Democratic candidate Heidi Heitkamp, a former state attorney general, has a narrow edge over first-term GOP Rep. Rick Berg, 47 percent to 46 percent. Against Republican businessman Duane Sand, Heitkamp leads 46 percent to 38 percent.

The survey of 625 likely voters was conducted June 4-6, and has a 4 percent margin of error.
