Obama Camp Spending About $10 Million On Anti-Romney Spot

The Obama campaign is putting about $10 million behind a negative ad that highlights Mitt Romney’s underwhelming jobs record as governor of Massachusetts. On a conference call Monday, senior Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod told reporters the buy was about $10 million, and now Politico has the breakdown, with the most money — $2.2 million — behind the ad in Ohio.

The buys in other states are $1.8 million in Florida, $940,000 in Iowa, $733,000 in Nevada, $737,000 in Colorado, $1.1 million in Virginia, $262,000 in New Hampshire, $1.03 million in Pennsylvania, and $1.4 million in North Carolina.

“I think the ad will be seen in the battleground states and it’s an important one and we’re going to put some weight behind it,” Axelrod said Monday. In contrast, of the $25 million the Obama camp spent on TV advertising in May, only about $100,000 went to ads attacking Romney’s record at Bain Capital.
