The Republican National Convention committee has abruptly cut ties with Rebecca Donatelli, a Republican strategist who was retained by the convention to work on its website and digital strategy, after Donatelli was mentioned in a proposal to use the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to attack President Obama, reports the New York Times. Donatelli was included on a list called “Your Recommended Team of Pirates” who could potentially help carry out the campaign, which would be financed by billionaire Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts. Strategic Perceptions, the firm behind the proposal, said last week that all people mentioned, like Donatelli, had nothing to do with drafting the proposal and would have been asked to join only after it was approved. Ricketts and the super PAC Ending Spending Action Fund have said they will not move forward with the proposal.
