Netflix recently purchased the rights to the web address ‘DVD.com,’ the company confirmed to the blog Domain Name Wire on Friday. A Netflix spokesperson told the site:
“Netflix cares about keeping DVD healthy, and this is just one small investment in keeping DVD healthy.”
Netflix raised eyebrows earlier in the week by apparently separating its DVD-by-mail website from its instant streaming website, according to observations by customers, a move that dredged up painful memories of Netflix’s aborted summer 2011 plan to split into two separate brands, one called “Qwikster.”
