Romney: In Retrospect, ‘Of Course’ We Wouldn’t Have Invaded Iraq

With the Iraq War now officially over, Mitt Romney was asked by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd whether he believed in hindsight the decision to invade was a good one.

“If we knew at the time of our entry into iraq that there were no weapons of mass destructions…why obviously we would not have gone in,” Romney said, explaining that President Bush’s decision to invade was based on the available intelligence and that the UN would have never authorized action against Iraq if the lack of WMDs were public knowledge at the time.

But Romney let Bush off the hook, stressing that the intelligence he had indicated Saddam Hussein posed a danger.
