In his first TV interview since leaving The Tonight Show in January, Conan O’Brien appeared on 60 Minutes last night. Though he contended that he “didn’t get screwed” by NBC, he laughed at the suggestion that Jay Leno may have gotten screwed too.
“Jay’s got The Tonight Show,” O’Brien said. “I’ve got a beard and an inflatable bat.”
Conan said that “when it started to get toxic” at NBC, he felt unwanted and decided to leave.
He also said it’s “crucial” to him that people understand “I’m fine, I’m doing great, I hope people still find me comedically absurd and ridiculous.”
