Stephen Colbert last night expressed his deep concern over the looming rise of the estate tax, set to tick up to 55 percent on the first of the new year.
The tax is “yet another injustice to the oft overlooked minority: children of the obscenely wealthy,” Colbert said.
But he is thankful there are members of Congress like Rep. Steve King (R-IA), who says he fears that families will have to make life-and-death decisions around tax liabilities.
“Yes, we have to stop the Estate Tax from returning as scheduled,” Colbert said. “If we don’t, we’re just punishing all those innocent, God-fearing people who are willing to kill Nana for the extra cash.”
