In Karl Rove’s mind, the White House is really the one to blame for the continued birther hysteria.

On The O’Reilly Factor last night, the former Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush chastised the Obama Administration for not putting to rest the continued skepticism on the right about President Obama’s true place of birth.

In fact, Rove asserted that the White House was doing this intentionally for political gain.

“This is the White House strategy, they love this,” he said. “Look, the President could come out and say ‘Here are the documents,’ but they are happy to have this controversy continue.”

“Every moment the conservatives talk about this, they marginalized themselves and diminish themselves in the minds of independent voters.”

Later in the interview, Rove did acknowledge that President Obama “was born in Hawaii.”
