Tired of media speculation about new candidates entering the presidential race? Too bad! Mike Huckabee is now reportedly considering a bid as well.
That’s right, the fantasy field is still expanding. Huckabee, who very publicly declared his intention not to run in a special episode of his FOX show featuring Ted Nugent, is apparently telling confidants that he’s now open to joining the fray.
“He is entertaining the request for conversations about it,” one source told Reuters. “I do not think it is a complete 100 percent ‘I’m reconsidering’ but he hasn’t shut the door on it.”
With Chris Christie and Sarah Palin still yet to decide on their own plans, the non-candidates in the field are starting to take up more attention than the declared contenders themselves. But whoever wants to run better make their mind up soon: the deadline for getting on the ballot in Florida is October 31.
Update:RealClearPolitics’ Scott Conroy reports that HuckPAC’s Hogan Gidley says “[Huckabee]’s made his mind up, and he’s still comfortable with that decision.”
