Bachmann Continues To Court Trump

Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) will continue her attempts to woo businessman and part-time GOP kingmaker Donald Trump at a meeting in his New York City offices on Thursday, ABC News is reporting.

This will be the third meeting between the pair, and it may turn out to be the most important for the candidate. Bachmann has been suffering lately; consistently hanging in the single digits in most national and state polls.

A string of high-profile staff defections and rumors of poor fundraising–she has yet to release her haul in the last quarter–have also contributed to the general feeling of malaise that surrounds her campaign.

Yet Bachmann seems upbeat about the situation. “We feel like the campaign is just re-booting, just re-beginning,” she told reporters in New Hampshire.

Winning the praise of Trump would therefore, appear to be a part of that “re-booting” strategy. However, she faces some stiff competition for his endorsement.

Mitt Romney was the last candidate to meet with the New York icon. After the debate on Tuesday night, Trump tweeted “There were numerous winners,” before adding “Governor Romney did very well.”
